Never Ever Ever Dull Your Sparkle
New sparkly identity, who dis?
First things first, never ever ever ever dim your sparkle.
In order to fit in, to make someone else feel more comfy, to be liked, to get an opportunity or ANYthing else really. Because when we do that, we end up with people, places and opportunities that are not meant for us, and that’s even more painful. This is not an easy thing to master, because firstly, it takes connecting with ourselves to let the sparkle shine in the first place, but once it's activated, that sparkle isn’t going anywhere and it WANTS TO SHINE. Be prepared.
I wasn’t prepared. I count myself as a likeable person, and have always been a “people person”, but after doing a lot of shadow work, releasing limiting beliefs and getting real honest with myself, I realised I had been dimming my light in order to fit in. To be liked, so that other people wouldn’t feel uncomfy or envious. I realised that some of these beliefs I had picked up were from my primary school years, and events that had followed on (because once we build a belief in our subconscious, our brain will go looking for more people/opportunities to confirm this belief).
After going on my healing journey over the last 2 years, I have reconnected with my sparkle and she’s made it clear that she aint going anywhere. Along with my true inner light, came a whole identity shift too, and this has not been easy. Well, actually, that depends how you look at it. For me, it felt like the most natural thing ever, but what's often more difficult is how other people react to it.
Things that may happen when you connect with your true inner light and start living as the most authentic version of yourself: the good and the hard….
Not everyone in your life will understand it, and they will want you to stay as the version of yourself that they were comfy with
People will want more of your energy, for themselves (can’t blame them - you are emanating light and all that)
Unaligned jobs, people, places, homes, hobbies, perspectives, or interests will no longer feel good to you, and will need to be released (can feel hard but trust the process)
You may want to remove yourself from any toxicity in your life and find it more uncomfy engaging in ‘gossip’ or anything that comes from a lower vibration
Don’t worry about the people that think you’re “full of yourself”. We can only see the world through our own lens, and sadly sometimes thats through hurt, resentment, anger and pain. The right people will find your light.
You’ll realise you accepted way less than you deserved in the past in multiple areas of your life - have compassion for yourself. You’ll now be proof that once you know better, you can choose better
Authenticity can feel lonely at times - it's much easier to fit in with the crowd, and standing strong in who you truly are takes courage, but it's worth it. Every. Single. time.
You will need to get comfy with setting big boundaries in order to protect your energy - you’ve got lots of magic to sprinkle with that sparkle of yours
People, opportunities, and ideas will fly into your orbit seemingly from nowhere, and it will feel like magic (because it kinda is), your vibration is now high af and attracting all the stuff you desire and deserve into your life
You’ll be grateful for all the aligned people that stay and you’ll know that those friendships are strong, beautiful and authentic
Your bullsh*t-ometer will be on fireeeee. When we connect with our sparkle, our intuition becomes much stronger and we feel energy like we never have before. The person that's telling you one thing, yet your body can literally feel the opposite - yeah, you’ll know. Let it/them go with love
You’ll feel more connected to yourself, your purpose and your life than ever before. You’ll feel like anything is possible and you’ll find yourself being more courageous than ever. This is when you must LEAN IN.
You’ll realise that although it's been a hell of a journey to get here, and most likely one that no one else will fully understand but you, that it was worth all the pain, discomfort, loss, tears, self hugs and everything else in between. You are free to shine.
The identity shift can also be tricky territory. I went from “boss banking babe” who was hyper independent, used her logical brain only, ignored her intuition, and felt no connection with a higher power, to spiritually reactivating my big booming inner sparkle. I began meditating, practising gratitude, doing shadow work, and getting honest with myself. I connected with something that felt bigger than me; signs and synchronicities started showing up in my life that I just KNEW were significant and I slowly started to become more open to the possibilities of change around me. I realised I was no longer aligned to the current life I was living. I had developed an insatiable thirst for the esoteric, and I wanted to learn everything about the mind, how and why humans behave the way they do and I felt such a gorgeous connection to spirituality. Yeah, it was a big change. Not everyone in my life liked it, but I knew there was no turning back now. I embraced it, I am still embracing it, and will forever more embrace it.
When the time felt right (my intuition told me so), I quit the world I no longer felt aligned to and stepped into my new one. My new shiny identity. The world of psychology, spirituality, wellness, speaking and coaching and I have never, not even for one second, looked back.
It can cause a lot of confusion, resistance, and pain when we no longer feel aligned to the path we are on, and it's much easier to stay there stagnant than it is to find the strength and courage to make the changes we so deeply want. But just know, that if you’re willing to do the work (because there is no sugarcoating it, it is work) then your sparkle will be there, ready and waiting to bust out of your heart and lead the way.
Step fully in your gorgeous, shiny, abundant light, let it sparkle brighter than a diamond, and don’t look back. You deserve it, and the world needs your magic.
